What is STEAM?
STEAM stands for science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics. STEAM is important because it embraces the principles needed to make students of today successful in the future.
Why choose STEAM for Success for after-school?
STEAM for Success is an after-school club focused on presenting enrichment in a fun, exciting way. Students will enjoy science experiments, art projects, and engineering tasks that will allow them to learn perseverance, patience, cooperative learning and communication skills.
STEAM for Success will be available each day- all school year- on Volusia County Schools school days until 4:30 pm. If Volusia County Schools cancels school for any reason, STEAM will close as well.
The program will be directed independently by Mrs. Inge, a National Board Certified Teacher, and graduate of University of Central Florida and Stetson University. Mrs. Inge has been teaching for nineteen years and has been running STEAM for Success After School & Summer Camp for five years. Mrs. Inge will be the lead teacher at Sugar Mill Elementary.
At the South Daytona Campus, Jill Martin will be the lead teacher. Ms. Martin has been teaching for 27 years. She is enthusiastic, kind-hearted, kid-centered, and is excited to provide you with this after school opportunity this year.
Courtney Parlett will be the lead teacher at RJ Longstreet. Mrs. Parlett has 11 years of experience in Volusia County Schools and was awarded Teacher of the Year in 2023. She is truly a phenomenal teacher!
Sandy Hayes will be the lead teacher at Read-Pattillo Elementary. She has been in education for 38 years and is over the moon excited to start STEAM on her campus!
Leslie Wiggins will be the lead teacher at Pathways Elementary. She is currently the STEM teacher at her school. She will do great things on her campus!
