STEAM Summer Camp will now be offered at Read-Pattillo Elementary in New Smyrna, Horizon Elementary in Port Orange, Pathways Elementary in Ormond, AND R.J. Longstreet in Daytona Beach Shores! Our Sugar Mill location had to be shifted to Horizon Elementary due to a major construction project on campus scheduled for this summer.
The hours will be 8:00-3:30 Monday- Thursday. Each week will have completely different themed days and activities to ensure a variety of experiences. Horizon Elementary will have 4 weeks available, while all other schools will have only 3.
Horizon June 5-9, June 12-15, June 19-22, and June 26-29
All other schools June 12-15, June 19-22, and June 26-29
Ages 6-12. 5 year old kiddos are welcome if they have completed kindergarten.
The cost is $195 total per week. You must make a minimum of one full week's payment of $195 to ensure your space. Full payment is due by May 15. If payments are not made by May 15th, I will have to remove the student from the list to allow children on the wait list to enroll. Payment can be made online through this site only through the "Payment" tab.
Once you complete the online registration form and make at least one week's payment of $195, your child's name is added to my list and you are enrolled in the camp. I will begin sending emails with more information in March. Do not worry if you do not get a confirmation email. Your registration comes to me automatically and I have you all set!
Students will need to bring packed lunches daily.
Want to know what to expect at STEAM for Success Summer Camp? Here are the details!
Kiddos will experience themed days such as Dino Day, Snow Day, Explosions & Eruptions, Up, Up & Away Day. Each day of each week has its own theme, no two days will be the same!
Each themed day will include:
A fun, old school style science experiment such as Coke & Mentos, sink or float, and dissecting owl pellets
An engineering task, such as Lego Landmark Challenge, building a zipline for toy figurines, and constructing marble tracks
An art project such as watercolors, clay volcanoes, and bubble art
There will be robots to play with, a 3D printer to try, but mostly the kiddos will enjoy hands on playful learning without sitting in front of a screen all day.
We will have a guest speaker each week, an engineer or two, a talented chef, and other experienced community members.
This program is designed to let kids be kids and explore science, tech, engineering, art, and math in a relaxed, fun setting. There will be a lot of play with STEAM activities and toys.
This is not a serious, college campus type of setting. It is geared toward all age groups, so even the youngest kiddos can enjoy the fun, and the older ones can be challenged as well.
All staff at STEAM for Success are experienced VCS teachers & paraprofessionals, and volunteers.
